YOUR JUDGE
Victoria (Tori) Ellis – (Shannara)
I grew up with our beloved golden retriever cross Sandy. I was 11 when I was first bitten by the dog showing bug, showing a friend of my parents Golden Retriever in Junior Handling Classes and showing has been part of my life ever since.
In 1992 a blue roan cocker became our first show dog. I have owned and bred a small number of cockers over the years and am proud to have been fortunate to have won a number of BPIS, RBPIS and BIS at breed open shows, 1st at Crufts and attain a CC along the way. Welsh Springers soon joined alongside the Cockers. Our first Welsh was purchased from Julie Revill, a litter sister to the lovely Ch Julita Ryvanda. This was for my sister to show. Welsh still remain part of our family.
In 2012 I decided I wanted a Welsh for myself to show. Our lovely Daisy, Glenbrows Fascination with Shannara, joined us from Tim and Honor Harrison. She has made me proud in the show ring picking up a CC and 2 RCC plus other lovely awards including RBIS and BVIS at the WSSC of SW Champ Show. Daisy produced our first home bred litter of Welsh, from which I kept a boy, Shannara Total Eclipse, who I am thrilled to have campaigned to a number of BiS at General and Breed Open Shows, the RCC at Crufts 2019, and his crown in 2019 (all CC’s with BOB’s), making him my first Show Champion.
I have always believed we should give back to this wonderful hobby and, as such, I have been fortunate to have served on the committee of the South Eastern Welsh Springer Spaniel Club and served as Show Secretary for a number of years. I have also served on three cocker spaniel breed club committees. Due to work and personal commitments I have needed to step back from any committee duties and showing.
I am honoured to be invited by the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of South Wales to judge the September 2024 Open Show, and I am very much looking forward to the day and getting my hands on some wonderful Welsh.
