Club Springtime Gathering
For a Training Session and Fun Walk

At Parc Penallta, Ystrad Mynach

Sunday 15th May 2016

penallta_observatory

Cwm Darren 2015We'll start the day with a Fun Gundog Training session which is a very useful exercise to introduce younger dogs to the field - or to remind the older dogs what they should be doing. Come along and have a go, even if you never intend to work your Welshie, it's great fun and very useful for basic obedience training and to socialise your dogs.

We will meet at 10am for a 10.30am start, probably splitting puppies/novice dogs into groups.

A hot lunch of soup/roll will be available from 12.00 noon and then we will enjoy a group walk through the fabulous scenery of the Parc taking in the giant sculpture of ‘Sultan’ the pit pony, one of the UK’s largest figurative earth sculptures, and up to the High Point Observatory before returning to our "Base Camp" for a cuppa and cake to round of the day. It's useful if you can bring your own foldup chairs to gather around our Gazebo.

CLICK HERE to visit the Caerphilly website for more information on this wonderful country park. (Scroll to bottom of page for map and directions).

If you just want to come along and do the walk then that's fine, we will endeavour to walk from around 1.30pm and it will be at a leisurely pace.

Cwm Darren 2015If you have not been before, see some of the photo galleries of previous meets on the website to see for yourself what fun we get up to.

CHRISTMAS GATHERING
Dog Walk and Pub Lunch ~ Monday 28th December 2015

OXWICH BAY, THE GOWER, SWANSEA

Welshies at Llanmadoc

Last year's Christmas Gathering was a great day out and the twenty or so dogs who turned up had a splashing good time racing about on the beach - their owners apparently had a good time too - read all about it here.

This year it's been decided to have our yuletide, social gathering just after Christmas, on Monday 28th, when we could probably all do with walking off those Christmas "excesses". All WSSCSW members (and guests and family) are invited to come along - with or without your dogs - to enjoy a lovely day out in this beautiful corner of Wales.

We will meet at Oxwich Bay Hotel car park at 10.30 am

the hotel will be open for us to have a hot drink and use the loos before we take the dogs for a walk along the beautiful Oxwich Beach towards Three Cliffs where there is a river for a bit of freshwater swimming.

Welshies at LlanmadocLow tide is at 2.00pm so there will be plenty of beach for the dogs to race around and, of course, there's some great sand dunes there too. People can do as much of the walk as they want or stay in front of the pub's log fire.

Gower Inn at Parkmill for Lunch approx 2.30pm

After the walk we plan to meet back at The Gower Inn at Park Mill where they serve some smashing pub-grub - so we can have a drink and/or a meal before heading off home with our, hopefully, worn out doggies.

As in previous years we’ll have a doggie bran tub – so can you please bring along a dog gift (no more than £2.50) for the dogs to choose their own Christmas present.

If you intend to come along will you please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to give us some idea of numbers - and let us know if you intend having a meal at the Gower Inn so we can book tables for the group. (It's also useful to make sure we have your email address in case we have to change plans due to weather etc.)

Please make sure you dress appropriately for the weather and terrain.

If you are using SatNav, the postcode of the hotel is SA3 1LS – which takes you to the centre of the village, so make sure you look out for the sign to the hotel.

Parking at the Hotel is free as long as you buy something there.

The public car park before the hotel is £4.50 for the day so we certainly recommend the hotel car park.

at Cwm Darren Park, Deri, Bargoed, CF81 9AB

On Sunday 1st November 2015 - meet at 11am

You are invited to an informal get-together - for dogs and owners alike.

There will be a chance to get some Ringcraft training and basic Gundog Training in the morning, followed by a picnic lunch of soup and crusty bread (£5) and a country walk in the afternoon when the dogs will benefit from socialising in a large group.

If you're new to the world of Welsh Springer Spaniels or considering getting one of these lovely dogs you'll be able to get plenty of advice from the experienced owners here.

This was a well attended event last year and everyone had a good time (despite a damp start to the day) - as can be seen in the photo gallery - click here

Have a look at the Caerphilly CBC website for directions and more information.
