** SUMMER WALK and PICNIC **
at Craig-Y-Nos, Country Park
Postcode for satnav = SA9 1GL — or use "promote.funny.salaried" on What3words.com)
from 12 noon on Sunday 19th July 2026
Photo above shows our happy group at last years meetup
We all know this venue very well, so we are pleased to return here for our Summer outing, as other walking venues are often too hot in the Summer, or out of bounds as well.
Craig-y-Nos offers us shade, a lovely walk through woodland, meadow and around a lake and of course a lovely stream for the doggies to cool off and have fun. For us humans there's a lovely area to sit and chat, and we will be there, from 11.30am, putting up our Event tent on the grass in front of the Lodge (all help gratefully appreciated) — and it's where we usually have the pre-requisite group shot.
This year there will be some other activities as well as the walk,
- a Man trailing demonstration, by Jackie and Derwyn,
- a Grooming demonstration,
- and a Scurry (see photo below), which is aways very entertaining, as dogs compete to retrieve the dummy in the fastest time. Even if you have not done it before, the dogs soon get the hang of it and love they love the excitement.
We do need to charge £5 per family to cover the venue cost, and also a small charge for the Scurry runs, please bring cash for this as we don’t have electronic payments.
Please bring your chairs and a picnic, and of course, your Welshies, (other dogs welcome as well, including that big lookalike Red and White Setter).
We will erect our Event Shelter to act as our meeting point (any help to do this would be appreciated) and we hope we might be able to offer cups of tea - but bring along your own picnics or if you want to supply cakes or something to share around we won't argue.
Let's just all join together and make this a walk to remember.
If you don't feel like picnicking, there's a Visitor centre with a Café and toilet facilities, and please note there are Parking charges in the carpark.
